Things to do this weekend in Barcelona
After a week which, for many, has been shorter than usual, we’re already
champing at the bit for a new weekend. In keeping with tradition, Friendly
Rentals has some suggestions for concerts, ideas and exhibitions to help you
enjoy this Barcelona

Friday 4th May
SALÓN DEL CÓMIC – The Barcelona Comic Fair will be celebrating its 30th birthday with a special edition in which the main players are the robots and the guest country is China. Stands, exhibitions, competitions, videogames, concerts and much more will joining their ranks to the celebration. Authors such as David Lloyd, Milo Manara, Gô Nagai, Sergio Aragonés and Scott Snyder will also be making guest appearances. Where: Fira de Barcelona (Av. Reina María Cristina). When: from the 3rd to 6th of May, from 10am to 9pm. How much: general entry 6€, concessions 4€. Anyone born in 1982 can enter for free by showing their Spanish resident’s card (DNI) or passport.
THE TOY DOLLS – The legendary English punk rock band is back to Barcelona to present their latest disk “The album after the last one”. A great opportunity to discover their latest style, remember their greatest hits and catch some of their contagious party spirit and laddish humour. Where: Razzmatazz 1 (C/Almogàvers, 122). When: 8pm. How much: advance tickets 20€, 25€ on the door.
Saturday, 5th of May
DINNER IN THE SKY – If you don’t mind splashing a bit of cash, this Saturday you can enjoy a dinner that reaches great heights: 50m above ground level in Barcelona, to be precise. This spectacular aerial restaurant, which has already passed through some of the best-known world cities, will be serving canapés, lunches and dinners throughout the day. Where: Av. María Cristina, Plaça Espanya. When: from 10am to 1.30pm. How much: from 59€ to 222€. Don’t forget to book in advance!
FIRA INTERNACIONAL DEL DISC – Collectors and lovers of music and vinyl have a special date with the International Fair of the Disk in Barcelona. During the 13th edition of the festival, numerous specialists from the sector will be offering up disks, CDs, books, posters and merchandise. Instruments and memorabilia will also be auctioned off. Where: Estació del Nord (C/Alí-Bei, 80). When: Saturday 5th May 10am to 9pm, Sunday 6th May from 11am to 8pm. How much: 6€.
MANOLO GARCÍA – His new album “Los días intactos” (“The days intact”) has already hit triple platinum. Manolo García will be starring in six concerts in Barcelona during the month of May to present it in person. Tickets are already starting to run out, so we recommend getting a move on if it takes your fancy! Where and when: 4th, 5th, 10th, 11th and 23rd of May in the Teatre Coliseum (Gran Vía, 595), 25th of May in the Palau de la Música (C/ Palau de la Música, 2). How much: from 38€ to 42€.
Sunday, 6th of May
ROSES NOVES – Every year, the International Competition of New Roses is celebrated in Barcelona, a contest which attracts participants from all over the world. Prizes will be given out on the Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, there’ll be displays of floral art, demonstrations of how to use roses in cooking and workshops on growing roses. Where: Parc de Cervantes (Av. Diagonal, 706). When: from the 4th to 6th of May. How much: free.
BIOCULTURA – Organic food, natural cosmetic products, renewable energy, alternative therapies, bioconstruction, handicrafts, clothes and shoes… Biocultura is an ethical consumption fair in which you can find (almost) everything. Where: Palau Sant Jordi. When: from the 3rd to 6th of May, from 10am to 8pm. How much: general entry 6€, four-day pass 15€. Children from 6 to 12 years, OAPs and the unemployed 3€, children under 6 free.
