Things to
do this weekend in Barcelona
Over the
festive period leading up to the big day we are preparing to completely immerse
ourselves in the Christmas celebrations. If you still don’t have any plans or
you would like to know about a few interesting things going on this weekend in Barcelona then take a look
at our suggestions.
Friday the
16th of December

DRAP-ART – Create,
reuse, recycle, reinvent…..This is the aim of the creative, anti-crisis
Drap-Art festival. Visitors can expect music, design, clothes and accessories. Make
sure you don’t miss out! Where: CCCB (C/ Montalegre, 5). When: From the 16th to
the 18th of December at 11am to 10pm. Price: Free.
PLAYSTORIES
– The Playmobil dolls have taken over the museum. More than 500 of these
figures will help recreate detailed scenes from the Old Times and Middle Ages: Phoenician
markets, Visigoth warriors and Egyptian mummies, etc. There will also be a play
area where you can make your own scene or create a “stop motion” film. Where: Museu
d’Arqueologia (Passeig Santa Madrona, 39-41. Montjuïc). When: Up until the 15th
of January 2012. Price: 3 €, under 16s free.
Saturday the 17th of
December
ANGELS, SHEPHERDS AND KINGS – The nativity scene, originating from Naples, is a very deep-rooted tradition in Catalunya.
You can see for yourself in this exhibition featuring one of the best collections
of nativity scene figures from the 18th, 19th and 20th
century. Where: Barcelona
City Hall (Pl. Jaume I). When:
Up until the 29th of December from 11am to 8pm. Price: Free.
CHILDREN'S FAIR – More than 8,000m2 dedicated to fun and leisure, especially for children.
There will be bouncy castles, craft workshops, sports, games, slides, clowns, karaoke
and live performances, etc. Where: Fira de Cornellà. When: The 17th
and 18th, and from the 22nd to the 31st of December. From 11am to
8pm. Price: From 7 euro.
Sunday the
18th of December

LOST & FOUND – This second hand market gives our unwanted things another chance. Visitors
can swap clothes, music, toys, comics, books, time and even ideas on the 200
stalls there. Where: Estació de França (Av. Marquès de l’Argentera, 6). When: From
11am to 6pm. Price: Free Entrance. 30 euro exhibition space.
RUMBA DAY –
This festival, which will make you dance to the beat of rumba, is holding its
third edition this year. Concerts with experienced artists within the field, workshops,
exhibitions, children’s activities and presentations await visitors to the
event. Where and when: From 10:30am to 1pm in the Espai Jove la Fontana
(Gran de Gràcia, 190) and C.A.T. (Trav. St. Antoni, 6-8). From 6pm to 11pm in
the Apolo Club (Nou de la
Rambla, 113). Price: All free.
