Market, famous for its polychromatic range of colours distributed throughout
its multiple fruit and vegetable stalls, as well as for the freshness of the
products on sale, whether it’s meat, fish, fruit juices, or nuts etc. However,

MARKETS IN BARCELONA
Santa
Caterina Market
Situated in
the Gothic district, it has not only a polychromatic interior but also a
multicoloured exterior thanks to the interesting tiled roof designed by the
artist Toni Comella. In addition, the inside is by no means disappointing as
you will find all kinds of fresh fruit there, as well as vegetables, meat, fish
and delicatessens. The building was renovated by the architect Miralles, with
architectural remains from the convent that it was prior to being reconverted
into the first indoor market in Barcelona
in 1848. Inside, you can also expect to find the Cuines restaurant, a modern
but welcoming establishment where they offer a varied menu of Mediterranean,
oriental and vegetarian cuisine.

San Antoni
Market
Situated in
a more traditional district of Barcelona, i.e. in the San Antoni district it
has currently been relocated to temporary installations whilst they carry out
restoration works to make the original site even bigger and more attractive. Inside
this indoor market you will find everything you can imagine as this market is
as every bit as good as the Boqueria. There is fresh cheese of all kinds on
sale, as well as quality sausages, fruit and vegetables, and meat, and fish, in
addition to some very friendly vendors that are always prepared to lend a hand.
It is a market that is a lot less touristy than its brother the Boqueria,
however it has the same high-quality products, and from all over Spain.

5pm and 5pm to 8.30pm, and Friday from 7am to 8.30pm. Metro: Sant Antoni

Boqueria
Market
Extending
over 2583 metres
and with more than 300 stalls offering a large variety of local and exotic
products, this is the largest market in Catalonia, with the greatest offer in
food products, and the most popular amongst tourists. It was opened in 1836 and
has become one of the tourist emblems in Barcelona,
not only thanks to its selection of fresh and colourful products, but also due
to the Catalan tapas on offer that visitors can try in any of the bars inside
the market.

8.30pm.
Conception
Market
The
Conception Market, situated in the heart of the Exiample district is a flower
market that is open 24 hours a day. It is an incredible market for gardeners,
travellers, and curious visitors, given that this market has an enormous amount
of flowers inside, in addition to the fact that visitors can also buy fresh
meat, vegetables, fruit and fish, similar to the other markets in Barcelona.  This market has been around for a long time in
Eixample given that it was opened in 1888 in an isolated building between the Aragó
and Valencia
streets eventually giving rise to this traditional indoor market.
Where: 311, Calle Aragó. Opening times: Monday from 8am to 3pm, Tuesday to Friday at 8am to
8pm, and Saturday at 8am to 4pm. The Flower Market is open 25 hours a day,
everyday. Metro: Green Line, L3 or Yellow Line L4 in Passeig de Gracia.
