The “Música als Parcs” or “Music in the Parks” classical and jazz music festival will be
taking place in our beloved Barcelona
over the June, July and August summer months. The dates are yet to be confirmed
however, this exciting event will feature a combination of musicians, students
and professionals, all interpreters of classical music and jazz performing for
the entertainment of visitors and locals alike in the Catalan capital.
Music in
the Parks in Barcelona this summer
Having started
more than 10 years ago and with the aim of making high quality music accessible
to everyone, “Music in the Parks” concerts are held in some of Barcelona’s loveliest parks and green spaces.
Thus, for the modest price of nothing, festival-goers can enjoy the two cycles
comprising the event. And, whilst a wide variety of musical performances will
be held throughout the festival, Jazz concerts will run from June to August on
Wednesdays and Fridays at 10pm in Parc Ciutadella in front of the stunning
fountain there, and July will bring a change in tone and move towards Classical
music, a perfect way to enjoy the warm, pleasant summer months in Barcelona in a
perfect setting.
In
addition, the festival consists of a varied programme therefore there is
guaranteed to be something to suit all tastes, and the over 20 planned sessions
will be taking place in various green spaces such as the Turó Park, the Jardins
de la Tamarita,
the Parc Diagonal Mar, Parc Ciutadella and even in famous Parc Güell.
Furthermore,
a new introduction in 2008 was the municipal band that occasionally boosts the
programme on Thursdays with crowd pleasers from Gershwin, and West Side Story,
amongst others.
To
conclude, a perfect way to spend some of your time in Barcelona and an ideal opportunity to take
advantage of the pleasant Mediterranean climate enjoyed by the locals in
summer.
