Once again the weekend is approaching in Barcelona, and as always it has a jam-packed full agenda with all kinds of events, exhibitions, and Sports activities on offer. And, as we don’t want you to miss out on what’s happening in Barcelona, here a few suggestions for this weekend in the Catalan capital.

Things to do at the weekend in Barcelona

Tapas in Barcelona

Until Sunday the 19th of December 49 bars in Barcelona will be offering some delicious tapas with a beer for the modest price of 2.40 euros, which is nothing if you consider the average prices charged in Barcelona. So, if you fancy going out for a beer and having some tapas, which is not a large meal but rather small snacks, then this second edition of De Tapas per Barcelona will be an interesting option. You can try some patatas bravas (fried potato with a spicy sauce), as well as aubergine canellonis, ratatouille and parmesan, and mushrooms with bacon etc. which is what you will find in many of the bars in Barcelona on your tapas wanderings around the city.

Christmas Walk

Or should we say more a Christmas race around the streets of Barcelona. It comprises a ten km race all in all starting from and finishing at Parc Cuitadella, a healthy and sporty way of spending your Sunday. There’s no need to register beforehand, you just need to turn up and fill in the participation form, then run and of course cross the finishing line, that after all is the best prize for those who like to run. The race starts between 9 and 9:30 am and the latest arrival time is 13:00. Click here for more information.

Buff Epic Run

Its sports on the agenda this week as on the same day as the Christmas Walk there will be a obstacle course around the Castle of Montjuic, and not your typical obstacle course. Participants will have to get past obstacles like bales of hay, mud pools, tunnels of foam, and piles of tyres, amongst many other fun walls, fences and obstacles. It costs 23 euros to participate with the chance of winning a prize and you can enter on the event website. In addition, the largest group with the best costumes will take away a surprise award that we imagine will be as amusing as the event itself. So, now you know of an entertaining way of doing some sports as well as playing the fool, because sports can be fun.

Concerts for the weekend

As always there are many concerts on offer in Barcelona, and of great quality. We’re not just saying that, it is as certain as day follows night. Thus, lovers of indie music should be marking the Razzmatazz concert halls in their diary this weekend because on Friday the 17th of December the group Beast Coast will be playing, whose latest album “Crazy for you” is just full of catchy pop tunes, and captivating songs thanks to the lead singer Bethany Constantino. On Saturday, the 18th of December you can also check out the performance by the New York group The Phenomenal Handclap Band, whose 70s sounds oscillate between a multitude of styles, such as soul, psych-rock, funk, and proto-disco in one of the most easy to dance to and critically acclaimed albums of the year. And, on the same Saturday but in a different venue this time, the Apolo concert halls, Supersubmarine will be presenting their debut album, critically acclaimed for its personality and originality.

Here’s a video clip of The Phenomenal Handclap Band to give you an idea of what to expect:
