This great studio is 2 mins from Las Ramblas and about 5 minutes from Plaza Cataluña, the most central of apartments in Barcelona. (This apartment building has NO ELEVATOR as is common in this part of Barcelona...)
This wonderful studio apartment is centrally located in the heart of Barcelona city. With La Rambla and Plaza Cataluña as neighbours you will find it easy to plan out your daily jaunts around Barcelona city from this conveniently located apartment. This very charming and rustic studio comes with a fantastic 50m2 terrace for the sole use of the guests staying at the Plaza... a bonus in the centre of Barcelona... to dine al fresco or enjoy a breakfast on the terrace.. unbeatable..!!
The area surrounding the apartment:
The Plaza apartment is in the area that surrounds La Rambla, so it is considered to be in one of the classic old quarters of Barcelona and of particular interest for its rich heritage of Gothic and Modernist architecture. This area is full of artistic creativity... and during the day as well as the night, it would be considered a lively neighbourhood, full of atmosphere... This area offers a great variety of cultural, leisure and gastronomic possibilities with its museums (MACBA), art galleries (Contemporary Art), cultural centres, theatres, bookshops, speacilist food, wine and craft shops, cafes, music bars and many superb restaurants...
It would be a pity to miss out on visiting this area during your stay in Barcelona....
The apartment:
The Plaza apartment is located on the fifth floor, this building does NOT have an elevator, but is well worth the stairs as the apartment itself is fantastic and has a fantastic terrace!!.. decorated with great style and plenty of colour, you will not be disappointed; the guest will feel completely at home from the moment they walk in.. the Plaza is a very cute and charming apartment and a wonderful choice for your visit to Barcelona. Centrally located, gorgeous, warm and a very welcoming choice for your accommodation. The Plaza apartment has plenty of character and comes with some great features such as increadibly high ceilings, which are also the typical catalonian ceilings with exposed wooden beams and lovely exposed brickwork on some of the walls... the Plaza comes with some original artwork created especially for the apartment.. a true gem in the heart of Barcelona...
The bedroom area of this lovely studio is segrated from the rest of the aparmtent by a 3 quarter tall wall so although not private, there is a sense of separation from the rest of the apartment. It is a double bed and as you enter the apartment there is a large yet unobtrusive wardrobe with ample space for their belongings. The Plaza is ideal for a couple or a couple with a child or three people but can sleep up to four as there is a comfortable double sofa bed where the 3rd and 4th guests can sleep.
The living/kitchen area of this apartment is lovely; the finishes are of quality and high standard, top of the line.... Here the guest can relax and avail of the use of the DVD, TV; or look out of the balcony below to the absolutely gourgous little plaza where people like to linger and enjoy a refreshment ... this great little plaza has many little cafes that surround it, so it is ideal for the guest with children who need to get out and run around while the parent can sit back and enjoy a "caña" or "vino tino"... the apartment has air conditioning and heat to ensure the guests comfort throughout the year....
The kitchen is new and modern and comes fully equipped with everything the guest might need to prepare a meal or some snacks....
The bathroom is new and modern in look also; it has slate tile and comes with a shower unit. There are fresh towels ready for use upon arrival....
The Plaza apartment is a great choice for your visit to Barcelona....

Raval
The Raval has undergone one of the most amazing transformations since
the 1980’s; well known for it’s overpopulation and less than desirable
residents it was an area to be avoided at all costs.. Riddled with drug
dealers, prostitution and street crime it really has changed incredibly
in the last 25 years or so… it is now a bohemian, alternative and very
colourful barrio….
Now the Raval barrio is in some parts ultra-hip with lots of cool
stores with avant-garde clothes, residents are young, hard working and
innovative; some of the hottest bars, shops and restaurants are in the
Raval… it has a huge modern art culture and the Raval houses the MACBA,
(Museo de Arte Contemporanea de Barcelona, Museum of Modern Art) and
many art galleries have paid top notch prices to rent space around the
museum…
The less desirable residents such as drug lords and common thugs have
to a large extent been eliminated and a large number of immigrants from
Morocco, Phillipeens, Pakistan, Ecuador, India to name some, live in
this neighbourhood and own and run businesses; it makes for an
interesting afternoon to see all the different options for food,
clothes, art, hairdressing or bars…. It is still less polished than the
neighbouring areas such as Gotico and Born, but still popular, modern
and cosmopolitan ……
The Raval also comes with it’s own Rambla; after several residential
buildings were knocked down during the area’s “facelift”, the Rambla
Raval was created, a wide path with palm trees, café terraces and it
even boasts it’s own Botero sculpture of a big black cat….. the Rambla
is used a lot for socialising amongst the local residents and at
weekends there is an interesting “mercadillo artisanal” where anyone
can sample Arabian teas and cakes…..
