Right by the beach and Villa Olimpica, a modern and striking area of Barcelona, by the beach and within easy access to Old Town Barcelona
This three bedroom apartment is extremely convenient as the visitor is close to the beach and yet within reasonable walking distance to the Old Town Barcelona, Gothic Quarters, El Borne and the famous Las Ramblas.
The Area surrounding the Apartment:
During the games of '92, the Villa Olimpica had to accommodate thousands of athletes and spectators, architects from all over the world were called in and designed modern and stylish buildings. Some of the main features are the towers at 142 meters high, the Arts Hotel in the Villa Olímpica is surrounded by a steel frame, so it seems like it is in scaffolding. Another feature of this great area is the golden sculpture ‘Pez y Esfera’, designed by Frank Gehry, representing a headless fish, quite a sight!!.
A great feature of the area is being able to reach the beach in about 2 mins from the front door of the building....
The village also has a beautiful promenade which is full of sculptures and really nice for leisurely strolls at any time of the day but more so in the evening, this is a very lively neighborhood with lots of trendy restaurants and bars and the atmosphere is alive and palpable!!
Close by this lovely apartment you will find the Villa's shopping centre, which houses the 15 screen Icaria cinema (all movies are shown in original version!) as well as many restuarants, shops, supermarket and pretty much anything you may need.
The apartment:
This lovely 3 bedroom-2 bathroom apartment was recently refurbished and has a warm and modern feel to it. The large floor to ceiling windows ensure that the Mediterranean sunlight floods the apartment and the wooden floors throughout give the place a comfortable feel.
The living-dining area is open plan, running into the fully equipped and modern kitchen. This makes the living room area large enough for 6 guests to share while watching a DVD, cooking and having dinner. The typical Spanish tapas bar downstairs also offers room service so no need to cook if you prefer not to.
There is one double bedroom and 2 twins, one bathroom has a bathtub and the other one a shower cabin.
Fresh linen and towels (even beach towels) are provided for use on arrival. The Pioneer Stereo System has 2 large speakers. It is connected to the DVD player to watch movies and you can also connect your iPod or computer to it (free wifi too). The Waters I apartment has also a room service for your comfort.
This apartment is the perfect choice for combining a beach and city break.

Villa Olimpica
A couple of years prior to the 1992 Olympic Games this area underwent a major “makeover”; it was transformed from an industrial wasteland into a great neighbourhood which simply did not exist before the collaboration of it’s four main architects, Martorell, Bohigas, Mackay and Puigdomènech. The area was originally transformed to house the thousands of athletes that were to perform in the 92 Olympics, and later were sold off as residential units and so one of Barcelona’s newest neighbourhoods was created… the result was a spacious and comfortable neighbourhood…
Points of reference for the area are the two towers that can be clearly seen from afar; both towers are the same in height, 153.5 m and the tallest in Spain. One is the very famous Hotel Arts which is surrounded by scaffolding and was designed by Bruce Gram and Frank Gehry and the other tower is the Mapfre tower, which consists mainly of office space….
Another important landmark of this area is the Peix sculpture by Frank Gehry, creator of the famous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and Hotel Arts… this headless, golden fish is quite a sight, like it or hate, it is quite impressive and located on the promenade. The promenade is an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, great for biking, skating and boarding especially during summer months..….
The beaches, although man-made are great and can be pretty packed during the hot summer months; these beaches have what are called beach-bars or “chiringuitos” which play cool music and serve tasty snacks and create a very pleasant atmosphere…..
Most social activity takes place in the Port Olympic seafront, with its docked boats, restaurants, nightclubs and pubs which make for a very lively and energetic atmosphere especially at night time..
The promenade stretches along towards the area known as Diagonal Mar and running parallel to this is the residential units build in early 90’s and their gardens or communal areas, both sides are linked by bridges, allowing the visitor to reach the beaches by foot and avoiding the heavy traffic…
This new residential area by the sea, with its man made beaches, promenade, restaurants and night life is one of the most frequented areas in Barcelona.
