The area surrounding the apartment:
The Goya apartment is located just at the edge of the old city in Barcelona making all areas of interest easily accessible, like the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, El Borne and, nearest of all, Plaça Catalunya. The apartment offers a quiet reprive from the bustling and very busy Las Ramblas but is close enough for guests to walk the ten minutes to where the action is. There is a superb food and produce market called La Boqueria just off La Rambla and in the opposite direction a block away you can gaze at the imposing modernist Arc de Triomf with its unusual Islamic-style brickwork.
The apartment:
The Goya apartment has been completely renovated and modernized while carefully conserving the original charm of its 1900's architecture. You can see this from the moment you step into the classically styled renaissance foyer of the building as well as the perfectly preserved facade of the building. Even the elevator has been refurbished to retain its turn of the century origin.
This 4th floor apartment is perfect for four persons and caters to their every need. The master bedroom has a queen size double bed while the second bedroom contains two single beds (which can be reconfigured to a double bed).
The living room area of the apartment encompasses the comfortable and stylish dining area suitable for four persons. It is here that sunlight pours into the apartment from floor to ceiling with the large French windows creating a lovely relaxed ambience. The bathroom contains the shower and sink while a separate room houses the toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, washing machine and all the comforts of home. Bed linens, bathroom paper and clean towels are all provided.
This apartment is an essential when considering a classical Barcelona modernist building with location, quiet and convenience as top priorities!

Plaza Cataluña/Paseo de Gracia
Plaza Cataluña
Catalonia Square is the largest square in the centre with 30.000 meters square it is the third biggest square in Spain. Some of the most important streets and Avenue interconnects with this important square, famous for its fountain, and statues. Until almost half of 19th century the Plaça de Catalunya was mainly a rural zone located outside the city walls.
It was only in 1858 that the Madrid's central government finally ordered the defensive walls to be torn down., approving also the construction outside the walls so a public contest was organized in search of a design of a new district. The first place was awarded to a design by Rovira i Trias but the head government ended up choosing a far more modern design with a grid plan by Ildefons Cerdà.
Eventually the local and head government agreed add a new plan. A design by the architect Puig i Cadafalch (author of the modernist building 'Casa de les Punxes') resulted in the current enormous square, created between 1925 and 1927.
Nowadays it is also a main interconnecting point, where transport is widely available, such as metro, buses, taxis, etc. And it is there that the airport bus and the touristic double decker bus have its last and first stop at Plaza Catalunya, right opposite to the famous department store, El Corte Inglés.
Passeo de Gracia
One of the most famous Avenues in Barcelona and it is a 1.50 kilometers stroll to Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, Passeig de Gracia is the street that has the most designer shops per meter square in the whole of Barcelona. From this location, other zones of interest such as the Gothic Quarter, and the very trendy El Borne are just a stone's thrown away.
Visitors staying at this area will find the superb food and produce market called La Boqueria on Las Ramblas, an absolute must for any visitor to Barcelona and will be able to stroll along the very up market Passeig de Gracia with its designer shops and some of Gaudí's most emblematic buildings such as Casa Battló and La Pedrera which have been listed as Human Heritage buildings by the Unesco. This popular Avenue is the closest to The Champs Elysés in Paris, right here is the vibrant capital of Catalonia. The first urbanistic proyect that gave life to this amazing avenue begun back in 1821 by the famous architect Ramon Plana.
Guests are expected to have a shopping experience just waiting to happen all around you. Paseo de Gracia alone will keep you busy for hours.

Location is fantastic. We loved the little neighbourhood just behind the apartment as well as the proximity to the centre. We walked all over. The lift gives it character, and the style of the apartment is much to our liking.

The apartment was spacious and very well situated-easy to get around on foot to most places. Although not airconditioned, the apartment does pick up the breezes so is mostly cool. Nice to have a separate dressing room/ wash room area to hang up washing.

This is a fantastic apartment, just 10 minutes walk from Catalunya and not far from the park and the zoo, supermarket nearby was also very handy. The accommodation was excellent quality and we would definitely recommend it. Perfect for our honeymoon with two-year-old in tow.

A great central location but in a quiet street so we weren't kept awake all night by others going home at 4 or 5am and even though our flight was delayed by over two hours and it was almost midnight when we arrived we were greeted by a smiling Rosa who gave us lots of tips about the best places to go in Barcelona. The facility to store our bags all day on the day we checked out,as we had an evening flight was really good too.

The location of the apartment is perfect for a holiday visit to Barcelona. As a family of four our apartment was an excellent base from which to walk to many of the beautiful sites, including the Gaudi walking trail. It is central enough to be close to the beach, tourist sites and shopping streets and yet is in a residential area, quiet and giving the feeling of being part of the city rather than in a tourist block. The apartment was spacious enough for our family - simple and fresh decor - very friendly and helpful contact person. We loved, felt at home and will certainly come again!
