A perfect base for your stay in Barcelona.
The apartment is comfortable and centrally located. It has been decorated tastefully and simply with the terracotta coloured floor throughout lending much warmth to the apartment and thus creating a nice and relaxing atmosphere for you to relax in after a long day of shopping or a day of exploring the surrounding medieval area in the heart of Barcelona.
The area surrounding the apartment:
The Caravaggio apartment is situated right in the centre of Barcelona, literally five to seven minutes' walk from the main Square or Plaça called Plaça Catalunya, the famous Las Ramblas, the old town or Gothic Quarter and Borne. The area itself which surrounds the apartment is a body of interconnecting narrow cobble stoned streets where you can wander around aimlessly for hours imagining how it was back in medieval times. The closest point of interest to the apartment is the Palau de la Música which is possibly the most dazzling work of Modernista architecture present in Barcelona. This is located a mere two minutes' walk from the apartment building. Other areas of interest within walking distance from the apartment are the famous Las Ramblas, the Liceu opera house, the Barcelona City Hall on Plaça Jaume, the grandiose Gothic Cathedral which is one block from the apartment as well as the remains of the old Roman Walls coupled with many more treats from Barcelona's ancient and medieval past.
The apartment:
The Caravaggio apartment is located on the first floor of the building (which is a real SECOND FLOOR as most buildings in Barcelona have an entresuelo or principal level; this building has no elevator like most other buildings in the Old Town of Barcelona). The apartment is a great place to stay during your visit to Barcelona. The entrance hall, along with the rest of the apartment, has lovely terracotta tiles, which brings a feeling of warmth to the apartment. The living room is a great area where the combination of touches of colour and simple and tasteful furniture, blending the old with the new, allows you to sit back and relax while enjoying the use of TV, DVD player and Stereo.
To the right of the living room of the apartment you can enter the very nicely decorated main bedroom where you will find ample wardrobe space and a large old fashioned double bed. Shutter blinds located directly outside the windows can be pulled shut at night time to completely blackout light from the street making your holiday sleep-in a reality. These blinds are also located in the second bedroom which has two individual beds, for any additional guests.
The kitchen in the apartment is fully equipped for your convenience. Appliances like kettle, juicer, coffee maker and toaster give the guest a feeling of home and will ensure that your stay at this great Barcelona apatment is a hassle free one. Pots and pans, plates and cutlery are all ready for use upon arrival. The bathroom has a rustic look and caters to all your needs along with a hairdryer. Bed linen and clean towels are all provided.
Whether you are on business or on holiday in Barcelona, staying at the Caravaggio apartment, with its central location, will be a treat.
Born
El Born is one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Barcelona and has become even more so over the last few years, combining a perfect balance between historical treasures, culture and “coolness”; an area very much sought after by the locals as well as the visitors. This area also boasts some of the highest property prices in the city …. This wonderful neighbourhood is full of many great bars, cafes, restaurants and is especially great for one of a kind boutiques as well as other, very well known clothing brands, such as Custo. The Born area is in such a great location, close to the Old Port and the beach, it’s surrounded by all the other cool and interesting places in Barcelona such as Barrio Gotico, Barceloneta, Old Port and Via Laietana. The Park Ciutadella is also a quick 5 minute walk from this area, perfect for a long stroll after a lovely lunch in one of the many terraces the Born has to offer.
A main feature of this great area is the wonderful basilica Santa Maria del Mar, right in front of this magnificent landmark, Barcelona’s guests can enjoy tapas and wine and watch the world go by…Other spots not to miss include Paseo del Born which is full of great bars and makes this area a lively night spot; not far from here is the Picasso museum….. The Born also has it’s own market, Santa Catarina with it’s funky, bright coloured roof. And finally not to be forgotten is the fantastic Palau de la Musica, which is possibly the most dazzling work of modernist architecture present in Barcelona….
