Yes we keep saying it, Christmas is great but it’s just that it’s our favourite time of year and when all the major cities are at their very best being so stunningly decorated in all their festive finery. Plus, there is nothing better than taking some time out during this time of year and experiencing Christmas traditions in other countries, escaping with your partner or going for a fun-packed holiday with your friends or family. There are a large number of cities and destinations that are guaranteed to offer you a fabulous festive holiday however, how would you like to spend your Christmas in a place with style that just speaks chic, and offers you the chance to get some fabulous gifts for your loved ones, as well as offers you a fun but traditional experience? We’ll take that as a yes. We therefore recommend the beautiful Italian city of Milan, and that you head down to the following three events:

Milan, the capital of Lombardy, can boast of having a really rich gastronomy, and the fact that it is the birthplace of the famous Risotto alla Milanse (Milan Risotto with onion and white wine) and the delicious Panetonne (typical Milan bread). However, their cuisine is very varied thus, so as to be able to try some of the tastiest Milanese dishes, we would like to recommend three restaurants where you can enjoy excellent pizzas, rice, and pasta with all kinds of sauces and garnishes

The San Siro football stadium, officially named Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, is the home stadium of both AC Milan and FC Inter. Located in the San Siro district, the stadium's informal name soon became San Siro. Besides a football field and lots of seats for the spectators, the stadium also has a museum and offices. It is one of the only stadiums in the world with a five star FIFA qualification. This wonderful sports palace is unique in its kind.

Italy is not only famous for Roman monuments and historical remains of its imperial past but also for fashion. It is the pinnacle of and current international reference tool to fashion and style. Its creative inventions have given rise to the best brand of cars, fashion, food etc. As the fashion capital, Milan also prides itself on being the headquarters of the legendary car brands, the Alfa Romeo and Castagna Milano.

If you love vintage clothing and accessories then you’re in for a treat because from the 7th until the 10th of September the 25th edition of the Vintage Fur Accessories Workshop is being held in Milan.

The next edition of Touch!, neoZone and cloudnine, the Pitti Immagine fairs dedicated to women’s collections for the 2011 spring-summer season, will be held in Milan’s Zona Tortona from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 September 2010, earlier than previously announced.

Between the 10th and the 19th of September Milan will be holding the Milano Film Festival, a film competition where vanguard cinema, Italian and international films will be screened. The event will also be a perfect opportunity for up and coming directors to show their work to alternative films lovers. Furthermore, the festival will be divided into individual sections for full-length and short films, and competitions will be organised whereby voters may vote directly for the director of their favourite film.

Pop surrealism and/or lowbrow art is appearing in the next exhibition taking place from the 17th of September to the 30th of November in the Antonio Colomo contemporary art gallery located in the Italian city of Milan. This exhibition entitled Fantasilandia and commissioned by Julie Kogler attempts to shed light on some of the most innovative aspects of a vibrant and original artistic movement for which international galleries are increasingly making more room.
